My Favorite Tunes (2)
By: Ian Whitelaw

Nameless (Hi Hio Tro Tro) is a tune that was suggested to me by Andrew Wright, the renowned master of piobaireachd, who told me it was “right up my alley, with a lovely turn of notes in the first variation and a high G that I always get right. . .”
I played Nameless (Hi Hio Tro Tro) in the United States Prize Pipe Competition and was awarded the prize for the most musical performance (although I came second in the competition). Clearly, I won the correct prize.
Sadly, Nameless (Hi Hio Tro Tro) doesn’t get a lot of play, owing to the fact that it has neither a taorluath nor a crunluath variation. Still, it needs to be played. Now, I can play it anytime I want to! To our piping community, I say, “Enjoy!!!”
